I just saw this car in the Library Gardens this morning. Who in the remote, blue-collar town of Polokwane, South Africa would own such a car? Probably a government official, like an MP. Those guys make tons of honest money, and usually steal more.

It’s a brand new (notice, no plates) 911 Carrera 4S. Man does it look nice – it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a 911 in person! While I was checking it out the owner came over. He was an amiable guy and we got to talking. He looked to be in his early 50’s, so that does put him in the right age group of a rich government official.
What surprised me was that he hardly knew anything about his car. Apparently he just went shopping and, without doing any research, just sprung for what looked best to him at the time (but I must say it was a good choice). He thought the “4″ meant a 4-liter engine, and that the engine was a V-6! I didn’t bother to tell him that the “4″ stands for 4 wheel drive (the engine is 3.8 liters) and that the engine is not a V-6, but a flat-6.
Oh and since you didn’t look at the engine to see what kind it was, it’s at the back of the car, just in case you got confused when opening the hood. Sheesh.
Even more excitement and wonder: Spotted! Bentley Continental GT
