How do I get a lot of views on my blog?
One of the best ways is to write about popular topics. About 50% of the traffic to my blog comes from this post about Google Earth and this post which I wrote months ago. I have had to disable comments on both posts, because there were very unintelligent comments coming in every day that I had to delete. Oh, and by the way, it should be something you’re interested in. Make it personal and fun to read. People can go to any ole’ tech website and read a bland report about the cellphone you just bought.
Just writing about what’s happening can’t make up a popular blog, however. So what produces the other 50%?
You should have a blog identity; a steady stream of you. This is what your regular readers are interested in: what you have to say, your opinions, what’s happening in your life. This accounts for 90+ percent of the material I write.
Ok, I’ve been doing that, but my blog still won’t get off the ground.
A very important point: no matter how good your content is, it takes a long time for a blog to appear on the radar. I’ve been writing mine for a year and a half, and it’s just starting to pull away from all the radar-blinding chaff that are the millions of worthless blogs out there. Be diligent and patient!
