You’ve probably noticed the new advertisement at the top of my sidebar. I also think it’s kind of annoying, but don’t worry, it’ll come down after May 6. For that is the day that the final voting will take place in the 2007 French presidential campaign. Root for Nicolas Sarkozy, the conservative candidate in the election.

The preliminary voting held on April 22 shows that Sarkozy has most of the votes so far, but it could all change at any time. Sarkozy is blue, the liberal opponent is red, and green is something else.

  1. You may not be aware but there is a far more interesting and arguably important election going on at the moment and scheduled for the 3rd May … Scotland.

We are currently preparing to go to the ballot to decide who will lead the Scottish Parliament (a subsidiary, if you will, of the UK government). the outcome of the election could ultimately decide whether or not the union of England, Scotland and Wales is torn up. The two main contenders are the Labour Party (unionist) and the Scottish Nationalist Party (independence) … further more a nationalist victory could also, ultimately, change the face of Europe.

    It’s a question of perspective  ;)

  2. Hey thanks for the info Alasdair

  3. no probs, we’re a little country with a big heart :)

  4. acctully… Sarkozy is not a conservative in the least- he’s against the war in Iraq, a strong advocate of building mosques to further France’s muslim population, and countless other things.

  5. He’s a lot better than the other two. And you can’t expect too much, this is France after all.

  6. yeah, you can’t expect much in Europe period.
