April wallpaper

Here’s my computer desktop wallpaper for this month. It’s the new Dodge Challenger SRT8. The burnout is nice, eh? Click the image for a full-size view (1440×900, the size of my screen).

There’s a bunch more Challenger SRT8 wallpapers here at Diesel Station.

Wow! A 2-door S class

West Coast Customs, a car tuning company from the LA area, creates a lot of amazing rides. I really like this Mercedes-Benz S550 that they chopped into two doors. (Click an image to view it 715×460)

The matte black paint is nice. The interior is excellent - it doesn’t look tacky or gaudy; the seats are nice and there’s no color (it’s all gray-scale). The trunk is useless for storage, because wow, get a load of that sound system! It looks like there’s 6 speakers, 2 subs, and 5 amps in the trunk alone, and I’m sure there’s more in the cabin! I’m not too keen on the (insanely expensive Asanti) rims, though.

Check out the full gallery on the West Coast Customs site.

Remember when Nicolas Sarkozy was running for the French presidency last year? I supported him on this blog. Granted, he’s not very good, but when you looked at the other options, the relatively conservative Sarkozy was much better.

No I’m getting behind John McCain in our American race. Not that I’m a fan of his, but he’s the “lesser of three weasels” (the other two being Hillary and Obama). Notice the campaign banner to the right.

My four wisdom teeth were taken out on Friday. I guess that makes me an idiot now.

We arrived at the hospital shortly after 6 AM, but they only did the operation at about 10. Before he put me under, the anesthesiologist had a little chat with me. When he heard my accent he asked where in America I was from, and I said California. He says he loves California - he’s been scuba diving off San Diego. He talked about the big kelp forests down there. He’s also been diving in the Florida Keys.

I’m recovering from the operation pretty well - I didn’t swell up much, I didn’t experience much pain, and I didn’t bleed or bruise at all, which I’m very thankful for. Most people look like chipmunks, but if you saw me you’d just take me for some chubby kid.

I just saw this car in the Library Gardens this morning. Who in the remote, blue-collar town of Polokwane, South Africa would own such a car? Probably a government official, like an MP. Those guys make tons of honest money, and usually steal more.

911-carrera-4s.jpg

It’s a brand new (notice, no plates) 911 Carrera 4S. Man does it look nice - it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a 911 in person! While I was checking it out the owner came over. He was an amiable guy and we got to talking. He looked to be in his early 50’s, so that does put him in the right age group of a rich government official.

What surprised me was that he hardly knew anything about his car. Apparently he just went shopping and, without doing any research, just sprung for what looked best to him at the time (but I must say it was a good choice). He thought the “4″ meant a 4-liter engine, and that the engine was a V-6! I didn’t bother to tell him that the “4″ stands for 4 wheel drive (the engine is 3.8 liters) and that the engine is not a V-6, but a flat-6.

Oh and since you didn’t look at the engine to see what kind it was, it’s at the back of the car, just in case you got confused when opening the hood. Sheesh.

Even more excitement and wonder: Spotted! Bentley Continental GT
